Frankston-Based Remedial Massage

for Rehab and Injury Prevention

remedial massageMyotherapy is the assessment and treatment of physical issues arising in the body, and encompasses remedial massage. A typical massage at Frankston Sports Myotherapy will begin with an assessment of the body so that the therapist can properly identify what may be causing the issue and treat accordingly. Treatment techniques will include a range of techniques from deep tissue work, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, stretching, joint mobilising and more.

It is typical for our therapists to develop a treatment plan for you. Expect multiple and ongoing sessions of massage, so that your progress can be easily measured by the therapist. Regular weekly or fortnightly sessions will be required for maximum results and once this is achieved, your therapist will work out an appropriate maintenance plan for you.

Although a massage will incorporate some deep tissue techniques as part of the treatment plan, there will also be other techniques used along with possible pre- and post-massage assessment. Our services are ideal if you have an issue that you would like a diagnosis for or you require remedial rehabilitation for a previously diagnosed condition.

remedial massageRemedial massage is performed to create favourable conditions for the body to return to normal health after injury. Frankston Sports Myotherapy therapists decide whether or not to go ahead with massage on the premise that the treatment can reasonably reverse certain physical effects a patient may be presenting.

If a patient has suffered a moderate injury resulting in structural pain and/or loss of function, then remediation is required to reduce or eliminate pain and restore that function. Remedial massage is designed to balance muscle/soft tissue length, tension, tone which will in turn promote the return to normal joint/capsular/bone position; increase the flow of blood and lymph, particularly in the injured areas, thus removing blockages, damaged cells, scar tissue and adhesions resulting from injury. Often performed in conjunction with other therapies including dry needling, properly performed and implemented massage can greatly improve a patient’s quality of life.

Our therapists are highly qualified with a deep knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology which aids them in healing you. Their services must be based on best practice principles and before any remedial massage treatment begins, a thorough patient consultation and assessment is to be performed to ascertain the patient’s current health status. If the patient is suitable for treatment we use the patient’s feedback to identify the areas that require attention. The therapist can then apply the relevant and appropriate treatment.
